Coming to therapy is often a courageous decision, and one that can open up space to think and feel in ways everyday life rarely allows. I work with people who want to explore themselves and their lives more deeply, to make sense of ongoing questions, symptoms, or patterns that feel stuck. Most simply, our sessions are a place to come and speak, sometimes to say things that don’t yet have words, or that feel too big or complicated to talk about elsewhere. The work is confidential, and can be as long or short as it needs to be.
On first meeting, we begin by thinking in detail about what brings you to therapy and how it fits into the wider context of your life. From there, we start to reflect together and ask the questions that have gone unasked, kindly, bravely, with space and time. Everyone moves at their own pace, and sometimes it can be useful to work within a set time frame, sometimes not.
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist with sixteen years of clinical experience, alongside a longer background as a mental health professional, service manager, leader, and coach. In 2021 I set up the London centre of James’ Place, a therapy service for men, where I led the therapy team for over four years and covered as National Clinical Lead for periods during that time. I also deliver training for counsellors, psychotherapists, and NHS staff. I see clients in Brixton and in the City of London, on Fleet Street.
